Effect of altering base-stacking at the junction of the terminal loop and the upper stem of the eALAS IRE. The base pairs 14/18 and 13/20 of the eALAS IRE were systematically flipped in the presence of A19 or G19. Equilibrium dissociation constants were normalized to that of eALAS IRE, presented as Krel ± SEM for at least three determinations for each RNA.
