Seedlings (5 d old) were transplanted to a 1 L pot containing half-strength Kimura B nutrient solution. After 2 weeks, the half-strength Kimura B nutrient solution containing 30·0 mg L⁻¹ Fe(II)-EDTA was used to induce the formation of iron plaque for 6 d. Data are means (per 15 plants values) ± s.e. of three replicates. Means with the same superscript within columns do not differ significantly at P = 0·05 using one-way ANOVA.
