Transgenic mice overexpressing heparanase demonstrate altered arterial structure and cellular density. Thoracic aortae were harvested from transgenic and wild-type animals (n = 8 for each group), formalin fixed, paraffin embedded and sectioned. Aortic sections were taken from four animals of each group at three different locations on the aorta. (a) Histological analysis of heparanase transgenic (HPA Tg) and wild-type (WT) mice stained with H&E and elastic Movat pentachrome stain (EMP).
