Synteny of MAT1-1 and MAT1-2 mating type locus idiomorphs of M. gypseum. Pairwise comparison of MAT1-1 of M. gypseum CBS118893 and MAT1-2 of M. gypseum ATCC 48982 was performed by the Dotpath program in the EMBOSS package. The highly diverse MAT locus flanked by highly similar sequences comprises an alpha domain/HMG gene and genes encoding two hypothetical proteins. The corresponding MAT loci in both strains are highlighted with broken red lines.
