Heterologous expression in S. lividans TK23. The catechol (A) and peptide (B) concentrations in the supernatants of S. lividans TK23 (○), the dhbACEBG-complemented strain TK23(pSP126/1079) (▴), TK23 containing cosmid 679 (•), TK23 containing cosmid 680 (▪, ▾), and Streptomyces sp. strain ATCC 700974 (□) were determined using the Arnow and peptide assays, respectively. Cells were grown at 30°C in M9 minimal medium with (▾) or without (•, ▪, ▴, □, ○) the addition of 50 μM Fe3+.
