Schematic description of ultrafast 2D NMR experiments. Field gradients are used to create windings of magnetizations based on the indirect-domain evolution frequencies (left); these are preserved as either phase or amplitude modulations during the mixing process (center), and finally read out by a train of oscillating acquisition gradients creating site-specific Ω1-dependent echoes modulated as a function of t2 (right). All these spatially dependent patterns and manipulations are susceptible to influence by motions, particularly by the unavoidable effects of the random molecular diffusion considered in this study.
