Again, skin samples were collected 6 days after depilation from WT (F and G) and N-WASP EKO (H–K) female mice to observe follicles in anagen IV. All animals were injected with BrdU prior tissue collection, as described in Methods. Paraffin sections were stained by H&E (B, D, F, H, and J) or indirectly immunostained with antibodies against BrdU, and all nuclei were counterstained with DAPI (C, E, G, I, and K). Arrows indicate N-WASP EKO follicles lacking proliferating cells. Filled arrowheads indicate proliferating matrix cells. Open arrowheads indicate hyperproliferation in upper N-WASP EKO follicles.
