Analysis of PmHS2 polymerization process in time. The PmHS2 (55–60 μg/ml) enzymatic activity, incubated during 28 h at 30 °C, was analyzed with standard assay conditions as described in the Materials and methods section. At many time points, the amount of substrate converted was determined using the coupled enzyme assay. a The specific activity for the elongation phase (2–12 h) and the level off were, respectively, 0.100 ± 0.010 nmol/μg/min and 0.020 ± 0.005 nmol/μg/min.
