Hypothetical rare haplotypes and disease variants. Each colored line represents a haplotype created by genotyped markers. The vertical bars represent rare disease variants. The rare disease variants may not be genotyped. Lines with the same color represent the same haplotype as represented by genotyped markers. Co-classification can classify some haplotypes which carry rare disease variants into a group. But some haplotypes that do not carry any disease variants may also be mistakenly co-classified. However, most classified haplotypes carry disease variants.
