Syk mRNA levels are expressed relative to the expression of syk in a Jurkat RNA total sample, which was used to normalize samples run on separate PCR plates, and represent mRNA levels in intact cells (which includes intact but nonviable cells). The solid line and gray region around the line represent the average ± sem level of mRNA in peripheral blood basophils (0.18±0.02 units).
