Solution FTIR spectra of 1a·O2 (black) and 1b·O2 (red) before (A, top) and after (B, bottom) the addition of 1.5 equiv of H[BArF4]. The spectra were acquired in CH2Cl2 at approx. −30 °C with a diiron concentration of ~55 mM. The intense peaks at 1356 and 1420 cm−1 are due to the [BArF4]− anion and solvent, respectively.
