The FY834 (wild type), FY bdh1Δ, FY bdh2Δ, and FY bdh1Δ bdh2Δ strains were incubated in rich media containing 15% glucose at 28°C in 200-ml fermentors equipped with fermentation locks with continuous stirring (A) and in 20% glucose at 28°C in an orbital shaker at 250 rpm (B). The growth and compositions of the media were determined at different times. The error bars correspond to the standard deviations of three experiments.
