Preliminary question: “Can you tell me the effects of the patient’s complaint on your life?” This was followed by prompts if necessary such as:

  • “Can you tell me about the role played by others?”
  • “What effect do you think it has had on you?”
  • “Do you think the patient had a right to complain?”
  • “Can you tell me what the patient complained about?”
