Dose-dependent growth inhibition by dipyridyl (A) and apotransferrin (AT; B) in meconium-stained AF (MSAF; 5 mg/mL of meconium). About 1×10⁵ cfu/mL of the preconditioned S. aureus ATCC 6538 was inoculated into the MSAF containing 10, 100 and 1,000 µg/mL of dipyridyl, and the MSAF containing 0.1 and 0.3 mg/mL of apotransferrin, respectively, and cultured with vigorous shaking (200 rpm) at 37℃ for 12 hr. At the indicated intervals, bacterial growth was measured by optical density at 600 nm of wavelength. Experiments were carried out at least three times with similar results, and a representative one is shown.
