*One patient in the medical group did not have a chest CT scan for classification of the pattern of emphysema. The p value for LVRS and medical groups in the distribution of the type of limitation was determined by χ² test. The p values for the LVRS and medical groups in mean MVV was determined by t test. BTPS = body temperature and pressure saturated.
