General health recovery improved at an early time point with low-dose testosterone. Neuroscore (A) and latency to move (B) were assessed 1 day after MCAO (Day 1) and 3 days after MCAO (Day 3) in untreated castrated mice (n = 18) and in castrates implanted with 1.5 mg testosterone (n = 20).
