GLP-2-stimulated glucose uptake was mediated by activating PKA signaling pathway (a) and associated with potentiated activity of L-type Ca²⁺ channels (b). Glucose uptake was determined in hippocampal neurons cultured on DIV 6 using a 2-DG uptake assay. GLP-2 (at 20 nM) mediated stimulation of glucose uptake, but this stimulation was abolished in the presence of PKA inhibitor PKI (1 μM) or L-type VGCC blocker nifedipine (10 μM). (NB: basal uptake of glucose was suppressed by PKI but not by nifedipine.) Experiments were repeated independently 3 times. **P < 0.01.
