Effect of ANK on osteoblastic differentiation of bone marrow stromal cells. Bone marrow stromal cells were isolated from ank/ank mice and wild-type (WT) littermates and cultured for various time points in the presence of ascorbate-2-phosphate. Van Kossa staining to detect mineralization was performed after 35 days of culture. Mineralization of bone marrow stromal cells isolated from ank/ank mice was markedly reduced compared to mineralization of bone marrow stromal cells isolated from wild-type littermates.
