When rats were given BrdU at E16 and18, neither the control E19 (A and C) or the E19 MAM brains (B and D) demonstrated double labeling with BrdU and reelin. Thus, reelin-positive cells were not born at this later time period. In addition, note the dramatic decreases in numbers of BrdU labeled cells and disorganization of the subventricular zone in the MAM treated animals given BrdU after MAM treatment (E16 and E18 injections).
