Ethanol enhances caerulein-induced activation of trypsin, chymotrypsin, and TAP generation in a time-dependent manner. Isolated acini were treated with 100 nM caerulein continuously with or without 35 mM ethanol. Data are plotted as a ratio to the maximum amount obtained for caerulein. Values are means ± SE of 5 experiments. *P < 0.05 vs. no ethanol.
