Mycelia (1 g wet weight) were incubated in 500-ml Erlenmeyer flasks containing 100 ml of MMEN medium using ethanol as the sole carbon source for 12 h at 30°C under normoxic and hypoxic conditions, and intracellular and extracellular metabolites were measured. Pyruvate was undetectable. Data are means of results of three experiments. Standard errors were <20%.
