A: the handle with the T-shaped horizontal beam was instrumented with 5 force and torque sensors. A load was moved along the beam to create different external torques. Another load (the “counterload”) was used to counterbalance the weight of the handle with the attachments and the first load. The external frame, the handle, and the counterload were connected by vertical threads. B: the force plate was attached to a wooden handle and used to measure maximal voluntary torque production by the subjects.
