Retinoic acid or Fgfr inhibition promote BMP-induced non-neural differentiation. During day 2 of differentiation in the presence of Bmp4, RA or Fgfr inhibitor treatment causes an increase in the proportion of keratin 8/18-positive cells, as indicated by immunocytochemistry and flow cytometry.
