(a) Silica crystals (200 µg / mouse) were orotracheally instilled into wild-type mice, MyD88/TRIF-double-deficient mice or IL-1R-deficient mice. 16–18h after instillation, neutrophil counts were monitored in the lung lavage by FACS. (b) In addition, wild-type mice, MyD88-/TRIF-double-deficient mice or IL-1R-deficient mice were orotracheally challenged with zymosan (50 µg / mouse) and processed as in (a).
