Computer simulation: random spatial secretion of PDI can account for the establishment and evolution of wave patterns. The transition from pulsing cells (1 min) to circles (10 min) to spirals (30 and 70 min) begins with the spatially random secretion of PDI. Increasing cAMP and PDI levels are shown in gray scale.
