These plots are representative of the behavior of the detector response as a function of r and d. The amplitude falls off sharply as d increases, while the amplitude shows only a slight decrease with increasing r. The width of the Gaussians increases with increasing r due to parallax error at larger r, while the width of the Gaussians shows a much weaker response as a function of d.
