Comparison between the standard technique and the “single chromosome end technique” for the measurement of telomere length. (A) Genomic DNA from peripheral blood granulocytes from five individuals of different age (range: 24–73 years) was analyzed by Southern blotting. (Left) DNA was digested with MspI and RsaI, and the filter was hybridized to a (TTAGGG)3 probe. (Right) DNA was digested with BamHI, and the filter was hybridized to the TelBam8 probe.
