SBP: Systolic blood pressure; DBP: Diastolic blood pressure; PP: Pulse pressure; BMI: body mass index; TC: total cholesterol; TG: triglyceride; HDL-c: high-density lipoprotein cholesterol; LDL-c: low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Difference between groups was tested with F-test for metric variables and Chi-square test for categorical variables. Significance of the overall test is indicated in the first column by Δ: P < 0.0001 and §: P < 0.05. For metric variables the table provides least square means and 95% confidence intervals, as well as p-values stemming from Tukey post hoc tests (with Kazaks as reference group). For categorical variables frequencies and percentages are listed, as well as p-values from Chi-square tests for the difference between Kazaks and other groups.
* 36 (2.24%)Kazaks, 17(4.07%) Uygurs, 1(1.23%) Mongolian and 6(4.05%) Han individuals under regular antihypertensive treatment were excluded from the analysis of SBP, DBP and PP levels in ethnic groups.
**Due to missing values, proportions in the table were calculated based on 1402 cases for 'smoking' and 1330 cases for 'alcohol intake' in Kazaks, 59 cases for 'smoking' and 56 cases for 'alcohol intake' in Mongolians, 143 cases for 'smoking' and 140 cases for 'alcohol intake' in Han population.
