Effect of cationic proteins on the CFU-generating ability of the E. coli D21 and D21f2 cells (% of control). A statistically significant difference (P < 0.01) in the CFU-generating ability was revealed only for the lysozyme-treated E. coli strains of two different chemotypes. The values are means ± SD of three independent experiments.
