Ablation Probe Geometry. Photograph of a multi-tine ablation electrode used for hepatic tumor ablation in a deployed orientation. The probe consists of 8 flexible tines that are spaced evenly at 45° angles. An additional electrode protrudes from the center of the tyne arrangement. Therapeutic treatment is achieved by applying a source voltage to the conducting tip. A conducting pad applied to the patient skin serves as an electrical ground return.
