Mature amyloid fibrils are present in a subset of Aβ-positive vesicles. In general, the pattern of WO reactivity appeared to represent a subset of Aβ containing vesicles. The images are thin optical sections obtained from a spinning-disc confocal microscope, which allowed for the resolution of punctate staining at the shell of the vesicles. In some vesicles costaining was visible at the level of these puncta, suggesting that Aβ forms amyloid fibrils at these sites. Inset, arrows: magnified images of these vesicles.
