The effect of [Nle4, DPhe7]-α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (NDP-MSH) on CD1a and CD54 expression on dendritic cells (DCs). The DCs were generated in culture in the presence or absence of NDP-MSH (10−8 m) and stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS; 1 μg/ml) for 40 hr to produce mature DCs. Cells were then incubated with antibodies against (a) CD1a and (b) CD54 (intercellular adhesion molecule 1) and analysed by flow cytometry. NDP-MSH causes down-regulation of CD1a and CD54 on DCs.
