Ca2+ entry through NMDA and voltage-gated Ca2+ channels. Ca2+ fluorescence in ES-I cells in response to a 3 pulse train of glutamate picospritz pulses (0.33 Hz), normalized to the initial control response. Pharmacology measures were only taken for cells which had a constant control response (<10% variation over 3 repeats). The pharmacological agents were bath applied, as described in the ‘Material and methods’ section.
