Time course for the changes in 20:5n−3 and sum of content of all n−3 fatty acids (Σn−3) of platelet phospholipids (expressed as the percentage of the total weight of all phospholipid fatty acids) and in the Σn−3:Σn−6 ratio after injection of the medium-chain triacylglycerol:fish oil emulsion. The time zero values (and horizontal dashed line) refer to the absolute measurements of each variable made before the injection of the lipid emulsion. The later values refer to the increment of each variable above the paired basal measurement and are shown together with the significance of such paired changes (*P < 0.02, **P < 0.005, ***P < 0.001). Values refer to 12 individual determinations. Note the difference in scale of the abscissa in the left and right sides of the figure.
