Induction of HSP70A and HSP70B expression by light in C. reinhardtii wild-type cells (WT), and mutants impaired in the synthesis of MgPROTO (brs-1 and brc-1), or in the conversion of PCHLD to CHLD (PC-1/Y-7). At time 0, cultures were shifted from dark into light (30 μmol⋅m⁻²⋅s⁻¹). For Northern blot analyses, 10 μg of total RNA were hybridized with HSP70A and HSP70B genomic probes. As a control, an 18S rDNA probe was used. Conditions for hybridization, washing, and exposure to x-ray films were identical for all probes.
