Biotin dextran amine (BDA)-labeled axons project beyond the site of transection and sprout into the gray matter. Strong BDA labeling of the dorsal corticospinal tract (CST) was observed rostral to the lesion site (A and B) and ventral and lateral CST components could also be identified (A and B).
