Experimental setup for 3-D photoacoustic imaging. A 2-D translation stage scanned a microring device to form a synthetic 2-D array. A bead placed in a gel bulk was imaged. The gel and the microring device were submerged in deionized water. Inset: transmission spectrum of the microring at an input power of 4.2 mW.
