IRS RNAi did not influence the sucrose sensory sensitivity of (A) high and low pollen-hoarding strain bees and (B) wild type. Sucrose sensitivity was measured as a gustatory response score (GRS). High GRS implies that bees respond with proboscis extension to low concentration of sucrose in H2O. As established previously, high strain bees generally test higher for GRS than low strain bees [27],[28]. The strain effect is indicated by asterisk and brackets on top of panel A, p<0.05. Bars are means ± s.e. Sample sizes are given inside bars.
