To assess whether the addition of Zn2+ can rescue the growth inhibitory effects of zinc ejecting compounds in BCA2-positive MCF-7 cells, various concentrations of ZnCl2 were added together with IC50 concentrations of 1, 3a or 5d in MCF-7 cells. The value set as 100% is vehicle control treated MCF-7 cells without ZnCl2 and drug. ZnCl2 did prevent growth inhibition by compounds 1, 3a and 5d at all concentrations tested.
