(b) Fluorescence microscopy image showing immunostaining of the fibronectin features successfully patterned onto the surface. The image brightness and contrast have been adjusted, so that the dim fluorescence of the lines demarcated by the arrow could be seen. The arrays of 90nm spots could not be easily visualized by optical microscopy since their size is significantly smaller than the diffraction limit.
