AAES members with NIH funding. The total number of AAES active members with practices in the United States for each of the time periods is shown. Compared to 1996-1998, a smaller percentage of the membership had all types of research funded (P = 0.05, Fisher's exact test) in 2006-2008. In terms of endocrine surgery research funding, there was also a decrease between 1996-1998 and 2006-2008 (P = 0.05, Fisher's exact test).
