Effect of MCAO on regional specific binding of [3H] MK801 to NMDA receptors

Results are Mean ± SD of [3H]MK801 specific binding, expressed in cpm/mm2, measured in 9 control and 17 MCAO animals killed 2 weeks (N=4) or 30–40 days (N=13) after occlusion. Non-specific binding assessed in the presence of excess unlabeled MK801 was subtracted from all measurements. Values from regions involved in MCAO-related infarction are in bold. Left = Left hemisphere, Right = Right Hemisphere, Ipsi = ipsilateral to lesion, Contra = Contralateral, L/R=ratio of left hemisphere value to right hemisphere value. A three way ANOVA revealed highly significant effects of region and surgery (p<0.0001) but no effect of side and no region x side interaction. . Subsequent post hoc analyses were performed using Fisher’s PLSD test and paired t-test.
