Note that for very short fixation times of 1–10 ms, performance is highly significantly different from chance (yellow bars; see Materials and Methods for details). (B) Confidence ratings of all trials (correct and incorrect). Subjects’ confidence rating (on a scale 1–3) increases as a function of fixation duration. Error bars are ±s.e. over subjects. Data shown on a non linear axis to emphasize the first bins. All ANOVA values refer to a one-way ANOVA (see Supplementary Material for details).
