Iron release was monitored by fluorescence at pH 5.6 (100 mM Mes buffer containing 300 mM KCl and 4 mM EDTA) as described in Materials and Methods. Averages and 95% confidence intervals are presented for kinetic runs performed on different days (n= 4-9 as indicated). Each day, rapid mixings of sample (3-6) were made and kinetic traces averaged.
