Expression of both PCS proteins in Arabidopsis. The presence of AtPCS1 (A–D) and AtPCS2 (E–G) in seedlings of ΔPCS1 transformed with AtPCS1:eGFP and seedlings of ΔPCS transformed with AtPCS2:eGFP is indicated by the fluorescence signal. AtPCS1 expression was observed in the shoot, including cotyledons and hypocotyl (A and B), and throughout the root, with a prominent signal in the root hairs (C and D). AtPCS2 expression was detected only in the root tip, primarily in the cortex. The GFP signal is presented in E, the corresponding bright-field image in F, and the overlay of both photographs in G.
