Effects of ethanol on MAO B mRNA level and catalytic activity. The human brain cell line, glioblastoma U-118 MG, was treated with 75 mM of ethanol for 48 h for mRNA assay or for 72 h for catalytic activity assay. a MAO B mRNA levels, b MAO B catalytic activities were determined, respectively. Controls were untreated cells (ethanol 0 mM), which were taken as 1 in (a).
