Entry of statins into the nigra of MPTP-intoxicated mice. Mice were treated with pravastatin and simvastatin (1 mg · kg body weight−1 · d−1) from 24 h before MPTP injection. Twenty-four hours after the last injection of MPTP, nigra was dissected out and concentrations of pravastatin and simvastatin were analyzed in nigral samples by HPLC using ibuprofen as an internal standard.
