TABLE 2.

The mean angle (± standard deviation) between each pair of SCC planes resulting from each weighting paradigm

Mean angle between plane pairs comparing different weighting strategies
Horizontal–Posterior (°) Horizontal–Anterior (°) Posterior–Anterior (°)
Uniform 90.2 ± 4.9 89.8 ± 3.6 96.9 ± 2.9
NonCrus 90.7 ± 5.0 91.2 ± 3.7 94.1 ± 3.1
CrossSect 89.6 ± 5.2 85.6 ± 4.4 91.6 ± 3.4
RedSpan 91.2 ± 6.5 71.2 ± 6.2 85.0 ± 4.9
Study A 95.9 ± 4.7 67.8 ± 7.6 86.2 ± 4.7
Study B 90.3 ± 4.9 90.4 ± 6.2 94 ± 4.0

These results show angular differences of up to 18°. These differences explain the discrepancies found between study A (Blanks et al. 1975) and B (Della Santina et al. 2005)
