(a) Diabetes exerts an acute deleterious effect on DPH contractile function that is reverted with time (b and c) and profoundly deteriorates with the progression of diabetes (d). After 2 weeks of insulin treatment DPH contractile function significantly improves to levels comparable to control levels (d).
