Knocking down S14 and S14R reduces synthesis of all major fatty acid-derived lipid products. Cells were treated as described in the legend to Fig. 2 except that 10 μCi of 14C-acetate was used for labeling. Lipids were extracted and then separated by TLC as described in Materials and Methods. Results are average (±sd) of four samples for cells treated with the control siRNA (CTRL) or both S14 and S14R siRNAs (BOTH). Values marked with an asterisk are significantly different (P < 0.01) in S14 and S14R siRNA-treated cells compared with the control siRNA-treated cells.
